first arsenal goal v Leicester City (H), Premier League, August 13, 2022

Livewire forward Gabriel Jesus made an immediate impact after signing from Manchester City in July 2022. Having previously worked under Mikel Arteta at City, Gabi scored twice on his home debut and didn't look back. A knee injury sustained at the World Cup hampered his debut season but returned in April 2023, scoring twice against Leeds United.

He continued to menace opposition defenders in 2023/24, despite undergoing knee surgery four days before the Community Shield. He contributed eight goals and eight assists, and was particularly effective in the Champions League, producing Player of the Match displays in the 2-1 win at Sevilla and 6-0 thrashing of RC Lens. He also extended his incredible record of never being on the losing side when scoring in a Premier League match (the tally stood at 60 matches – 55 wins and 5 draws – at the start of this season).

In 2024/25, Gabi found his form in December with five goals against Crystal Palace in the space of four days. After netting a hat-trick in the Carabao Cup, the forward scored twice in the Premier League against the Eagles. After scoring on New Year's Day against Brentford, a knee injury sustained against Manchester United in the FA Cup third round would end his season early.

A teenage sensation at Palmeiras, the forward made his first-team debut as a 17 year old and burst onto the international scene by winning gold with the under-23s at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Later that year he made his debut for the senior team, then featured at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups – although a knee injury in their final group game ruled him out until March 2023.
