Turmeric Face Mask for Younger Looking Skin

Spice Up Your Looks With This Homemade Face Mask For Dry, Mature Skin

Do you want to improve your skin tone but simply don’t have time to go to the spa?

Maybe you’d just like to pamper yourself for a bit at home but don’t know where to start.

We’ve got you covered! This homemade face mask is made from simple ingredients that, for the most part, are probably already in your cupboards.

Interested? Good! Let’s get started!

What Do These Ingredients Do?

The honey is an antibacterial and antimicrobial and can help kill the bacteria that causes acne. It’s also a humectant and will help your skin retain moisture. The olive oil works well as a moisturizer and the CoQ10 is a revitalizing antioxidant. To read more about this awesome supplement, check out our article on the Benefits of CoQ10. Originally, it was just used as an oral supplement but it’s appearing more and more in top-of-the-line anti-aging face creams.

The turmeric is the real star here, though. It’s an anti-cancer, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory superhero that, in theory, brings your blood to the surface and helps get your circulation going so that you have an awesome glow. It’s actually been used in India for centuries to give brides that beautiful, bright skin for their wedding day.

If you’re going to a party or an event, turmeric is a great way to brighten up your complexion. It works well if your skin just looks tired and blotchy, too. The difference that you’ll see will be amazing.

What Will You Need?

As we’ve already stated, most of this stuff will already be in your cabinet, and if you don’t have the CoQ10 this time, don’t worry about it. You can either substitute vitamin E or just skip it this once. Pick some up the next time you’re at the store though because it really is amazing for your face.

  • 1 Tbsp Honey – organic is best, but regular or “runny” will do.
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric – that’s right, the spice that you use to make curry!
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil – as always, extra virgin is best but regular will do.
  • 2 CoQ10 gel capsules
  • An old T-Shirt- the turmeric will stain your clothes.

Mix and Prepare

This part’s really simple. Just mix the ingredients together, with the exception of the CoQ10 capsules. Poke a hole (or if you’re informal like me, just a bite the tip off!) and squeeze the contents of the capsule into your mixture.

Put on your old T-shirt and pull your hair back because you don’t want to get this on good clothes or in your hair. It may be great for your skin, but it’s a bright yellow, sticky mess!

This particular homemade face mask is going to have sort of an egg yolk, liquid toffee consistency and is going to have a slightly odd smell. If you want, feel free to add your favorite essential oil to it to make it smell good.

Apply the mask by dipping your fingers into the mix and smearing it on your face. Use circular motions to get your blood flowing. Be careful not to get it in your eyes, but feel free to take it down your neck if you’d like.

The color is going to make your face look really yellow, but don’t worry – it’ll wash off easily and completely. You’ll feel the mask heating your skin but don’t worry because that’s the turmeric doing its job. Leave the mask on for 20-25 minutes.

Rinse off carefully because you don’t want to splash the yellow onto your rugs or anything else that you don’t want stained. Even better, use the mask while you’re taking a hot bath – you get the benefit of the steam warming your face, plus you can rinse it off right in the tub.

Final Word

This mask is great for restoring moisture and brightening dull, tired-looking skin. It’s also good for plumping wrinkles and giving you back that youthful glow. Plus, sometimes it’s just nice to baby yourself a bit and really, you can’t place a monetary value on that!
