Philosophy’s Miracle In a Box Review

A Box of Magic or Just Another As-Seen-On-TV Scam? miracle-in-a-box

Have you seen this “anti-aging miracle” advertised on TV and been tempted to pick up the phone?

If so, you’re certainly not alone. Sales of this product are high, and if the women on the infomercial are to be believed, you’ll look the high-school you in just 30 days.

OK, so that’s not exactly the promise but the claims are still pretty impressive if they’re true.

Frankly, it sounds a bit suspicious to me so I decided to take a closer look at what, exactly, is in Miracle In a Box.

What Do They Claim?

Philosophy claims that the three products that come in the box work together to give you noticably younger, smoother skin in just 30 days.

To be precise, you’ll have clearer, smoother skin in a week, in a month, you’re skin will be brighter, and discolorations will be reduced and in 2 months, wrinkles and pore size will be diminished.

The first claim sounds plausible, as does the second. I draw the line at the entire “pore reduction” schpeel though.

I’m generally pessimistic when it comes to products that claim to reduce pore size because there’s no real way to do so. Your pores are proportional to the size of your oil glands and therefore size can’t be altered.

You can make them appear smaller by exfoliating and keeping them clean of debris and excess oil. If large pores are one of your aging concerns, you need to use gentle cleansers that don’t strip too much oil from your skin; this causes increased oil production and thus, larger pores.

Decreased levels of elastin and collagen can make your pores appear larger too, so if you can increase your levels of these proteins with a topical cream, (a possibility that’s still being debated), then you could make them appear smaller by strenthening the walls.

Let’s take a peak at the Miracles in the Box.

The Products

There are three different “Miracles” in the Miracle In a Box Line. Let’s take a quick look at them. I’ve also completed individual reviews on each product in separate articles, along with links if you’d like to purchase them independently.

  1. Purity Made Simple is a cleanser that’s touted to be formulated to gently cleanse, tone and easily remove face makeup while providing hydration for your skin.

OK, this could be one of the ways that the products make your skin look clearer and your pores look smaller. A quick peak at the ingredients list is a little disappointing, though.

In summary, there are two parabens and one sulfate but there are also numerous natural and herbal ingredients that act as emollients, moisturizers, balancers and cleansers.

As far as cleansers go, this is a fair product but frankly, all that you need your cleanser to do is gently clean without drying out your skin. This product seems to do that. To learn more about this product, read our Purity Made Simple Review.

  2. Miracle Worker Anti-Aging Retinoid Pads are designed a little differently than standard retinol pads. Instead of being one container with liquid-soaked wipes, these actually come in two separate bottles and you pour the retinoid solution onto the pad when you use it.

The product is formulated to help eliminate age spots, skin discoloration and wrinkles while making the skin on your face and hands clear and glowy.

According to Philosophy, it does this using antioxidants, conditioners and soothers without causing the irritation that typical retinol products cause. It uses what they call High Performance Retinoid, or Hydroxypinnacolone Retinoate, a new form of retinol that’s supposedly just as good as old-school retinol without the irritation.

Users really seem to like this product as well and since it’s about $50 or so by itself, you’ll be better off buying the Miracle In A Box kit. If you’d like to learn more about this product, check out our article, Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Retinoid Pads Review.

  3. Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Moisturizer is the third and final product in the Miracle In a Box collection.

The claims for this moisturizer are a bit odd compared to other products; it supposedly helps promoe your skin’s longevity for a radiant, firm result. It helps strengthen your skin’s potential for rejuvenation and to guard against the signs of aging. Finally, it helps your skin retain moisture so that your skin looks younger.

The product is packed with antioxidants and absorbs easily into your skin. Users really like this product though many people report that it’s a bit sticky for daytime use but is fabulous for nights. Thre were a few that didn’t report any difference in wrinkles but even those folks said that it was moisturizing and softening.

How Do You Use Them?

The cleanser and moisturizer are for morning and night use and the retinol pads are for night use only. Many people choose to use the moisturizer only at night because it’s pretty rich. The cleanser and moisturizer are used just like other similar products but the pads are a little different. You actually pour a little onto the pad from the bottle, wipe it onto your face, then just discard the pad when you’re done.

What Buy The Box?

The main reason to buy the entire Miracle in a Box system is simple; you’ll have the 3 main products that you need to start building your age management system. The second reason is that it’s much cheaper to buy them together. Separately, you’ll pay between $130-150 in total but the Miracle In a Box kit will only cost you about $4-0 and you may even get bonus items. Plus, if you buy the kit, you’ll get the chance to try all 3 products!
