Olay Regenerist Fragrance Free Regenerating Serum Review

A Great Product, or Just More Money Spent?

Have you been considering trying Olay’s Regenerist Serum but need a product that has no scent or color?

Well good news then because now Olay’s created just that.

Olay’s Regenerist Fragrance Free Regenerating Serum may just be the next best serum on the market, plus there’s no fragrance to cause headaches and it’s color-free, too.

What Is It?

We all know the Olay name. The company has been around since the late 1950’s and since then, has evolved into one of the leading skin care magnates in the world. Olay boasts that their Regenerist Fragrance Free Regenerating Serum can do the following:

  • Leave your skin feeling velvety smooth with a younger-looking, regenerated appearance.
  • Deeply hydrates with one of our highest amino peptide and B3 concentrations available
  • Softens the look of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Hydration helps produce skin that looks firmer and more elastic over time.
  • Leave your skin feeling velvety smooth with a younger-looking, regenerated appearance.
  • Deeply hydrates with one of our highest amino peptide and B3 concentrations available.
  • Hydration helps produce skin that looks firmer, more lifted and younger appearance.
  • Now let’s take a look at what’s really in this product. Is there more good stuff in the product or in the claims?

    What’s In It?

Cyclopentasiloxane and dimethicone are types of silicone, which are silica, or sand. Silicone acts as a water-binding agent and gives emolliency, meaning it prevents water loss on skin and provides a softening effect. Another Regenerist ingredient, polymethylsilsesquioxane, is a polymer that’s derived from the silicone methyltrimethoxysilane.

Glycerin is a humectant, meaning it absorbs water. It increases the amount of water in your surface layer of skin because it attracts water from the environment as well as your lower layers of skin. This helps to maintain your outer skin barrier, which prevents scaling and dryness. Butylene glycol and propylene glycol also act as humectants in this product.

This product has three vitamins—pantenol, or vitamin B5, niacinamide, or vitamin B3, and tocopheryl acetate, or vitamin E. Vitamin E is a lipid-soluble vitamin that’s an antioxidant superstar.

Niacinamide that’s applied topically can increase free fatty acid levels and ceramide in skin, prevent your skin from losing water, and stimulate microcirculation in your dermis. These factors can lead to improved elasticity, improvement in the appearance of wrinkles, a decrease in skin discolorations and a reduction in sallowness.

Olay has several PEG compound ingredients. PEG stands for polyethylene glycol. PEG compounds can be used as binding agents, emollients and stabilizers in cosmetic formulations.

    Amino Peptides

Regenerist Fragrance Free Serum has two types of amino peptides, palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 and carnosine. Carnosine has antioxidant as well as anti-inflammatory properties.

Palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 is meant to stimulate collagen production, but scientific studies don’t exist to back this up. They don’t exist to deny it either, though. Palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 is attached to a fatty acid, which boosts its ability to penetrate your skin.

Ethylparaben, propylparaben and methylparaben are parabens that are used as preservatives. These are popular because they are considered less irritating than many other preservatives but many people refuse to use products with parabens in them. They do, however, provide the benefit of broad spectrum activity against mold, bacteria and fungus that may contaminate cosmetics.

    Green Tea

Camellia sinensis leaf extract is just a fancy term for green tea extract. Green tea is an antioxidant and also has anti-inflammatory properties. Studies on green tea’s anticarcinogenic properties also look promising, but these have been done on animals, so benefits might not translate to humans.

Now let’s talk about what’s in it for YOU.

    What Are Users Saying?

For the most part customers using this product are extremely satisfied. According to them, the serum does all that it promises to do and users really feel like the product helps their skin feel smoother and more supple. Some users even state that the product makes your pores seem smaller.

The general opinion is favorable for the price and many consumers feel that Olay’s Fragrance Free version of their Regenerist Serum is at a much lower price than other brands.

    Final Word

The bottom line is that this product contains some good stuff but if you’re already using an awesome moisturizer, you may not need it.

On the flip side, if you’re not using a moisturizer then the serum may be perfect for you but you probably don’t need to use a serum AND a moisturizer. That’s just my 2 cents, and you’re free to decide for yourself. Click here if you’d like to try Olay Regenerist Fragrance Free Regenerating Serum.
