Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Spot Concealer

Do You Want to Cover Up Those Dark Spots to Look Younger?

One of the biggest complaints that we get is that it’s difficult to find a product that effectively helps with dark spots without looking cakey so we’re always watching out for new products for that. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Spot Concealer + Treatment claims to be just what you need to make your skin look younger. We’ll see about that.

What Do They Claim?

According to Maybelline, this concealer with vitamin C fights dark spots in 2 ways – it covers them instantly and fights to eliminate them gradually over time as you use the treatment. You’ll see visible results in four weeks.

It targets dark spots, scars and sunspots and comes in 5 brightening shades. That all sounds well and good, but does it work?

What’s In It?

An initial glance at the ingredients list frankly isn’t that impressive. It has all of the typical ingredients that most concealers have but I don’t see much in the way of anti-aging products or skin lighteners. A closer look reveals that there several ingredients that make it a good concealer.

There’s zinc, which inhibits sebum production, effectively helping with acne and with keeping your makeup on all day. There are also several good minerals in it that help to keep it from caking and to provide good coverage. Let’s take a look and see what people who really use it.

There is of course vitamin C in it, as well.

What Are Users Saying?

The one major complaint that people had about this product was that it was difficult to open and dispense. Here’s a hint: hold the product upright and twist the top counter-clockwise numerous times until the concealer comes out and soaks the sponge. It may take a while, but it will work.

Other than the dispensing issue, users really like the concealer and report that it lives up to both promises: it covers immediately and spots start to disappear after about four weeks. It goes on smoothly though some people did report that they liked to dab it on with their fingers instead, if only for sanitation purposes.

Final Word

We’re going to tentatively recommend Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Spot Concealer + Treatment simply because users say it works. It does have parabens and other not-so-great preservatives in it and the dispenser is apparently difficult to operate. On the other hand, though, it goes on well once you figure out how to get it out and it’s effective. In today’s world of garbage makeup, that’s saying something.

I did buy this because of the good reviews. It has a yellow tint and it has a strong overwhelming smell of self tanning lotions or creams.
