Skin Cancer Prevention Diet: Anti-Skin Cancer Foods

The secret to beautiful, youthful looking skin can be found right in the grocery store. There are numerous foods that can provide the antioxidants necessary for a person to have clean, healthy skin. Eating the right foods can help a person achieve the age defying skin that we all desire. Scientific studies have proven the fact that antioxidants can slow or prevent several types of cancer from developing.

Skin is exposed to all kinds of free radicals in the environment. Antioxidants are very useful in neutralizing and eliminating the free radicals our skin is exposed to everyday. Raw fruits and vegetables are full of powerful antioxidants. Raw consumption is the best. The skins of many fruits contain the majority of the antioxidants. Vegetables lose some of their valuable vitamins and minerals when they are cooked.

One tasty fruit that contains a powerful anti-aging antioxidant known as resveratrol, is red grapes. The skin of the grapes is the healthiest part of the fruit and is believed to prevent some skin cancers. Resveratrol has been the focus of numerous studies and has shown positive signs of being able to prevent or stop the growth of tumors when directly applied. Studies have found that resveratrol, which is found in the skin of red grapes, was able to minimize some of the damage caused by UVB rays. Pomegranate is another fruit known to reduce the risks of skin cancer. Again, the red skin contains a powerful compound that is very effective at fighting skin tumors.

Foods that are rich in Vitamin E can also provide plenty of necessary nutrition for the skin. Things like nuts and mangos are packed with Vitamin E. Many cooking oils are full of Vitamin E as well, including; corn, soybean and safflower oils. Beta-carotene, Vitamins A and C are also powerful antioxidants that can provide a person’s skin the nutrition it needs to glow. Carrots, oranges, and sweet potatoes are excellent ways to get any of these vitamins naturally.

Fish and poultry are some other healthy food options that can enhance a person’s skin. There are some red meats that contain the vitamins necessary for healthy skin, but a diet rich in red meat is believed to increase the risk of some other types of cancers.
