Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream Review

Looking for a Light, Effective BB Cream That Doesn’t Cake?

Sometimes you just want a light, natural-looking cover up that covers blemishes and moisturizes with a nude appearance.

Unfortunately, as we age that’s not as easy as it once was. Foundations settle into fine lines, making us look even older than we actually are. But what if there’s a better option?

According to Maybelline, their Dream Fresh BB Cream is exactly the product that you’re looking for.

Today we’re going to take a look at what, exactly, this cream is supposed to do, then examine the ingredients and take a look at what actual users are saying about it to see if it’s actually worth your money.

What Do They Claim?

According to Maybelline, their BB Cream performs 8 different functions, including:

  • Brightens your skin
  • Evens your skintone
  • Blends imperfection
  • Smoothes
  • Enhances your skin
  • Provides SPF 30 protection
  • Has no oils or heavy ingredients to settle into your wrinkles
  • Hydrates

They recommend that you apply and blend with your fingertips.

What’s In It?

The sunscreen component in Dream Fresh BB Cream is titanium dioxide, which is simply a sunblock. There aren’t really any effective anti-aging ingredients in the cream but there are several ingredients such as phenoxyethanol and silica that hint at a smooth texture and good coverage without caking.

There aren’t any parabens or items that are too horrible, either.

What Are Users Saying?

Reviews on this product are actually pretty good as long as you have a medium complexion. There are only five shades so if you’re very fair or have darker skin, you’re probably not going to be able to use this BB cream. Also, the coverage that it applies is light as advertised so if you’re expecting opaque coverage, you’ll be disappointed.

On the positive side, though, Dream Fresh BB Cream goes on easily, blends well and lasts all day. It’s also lightweight as advertised and looks natural. People also report that it doesn’t settle into fine lines and that it looks smooth all day long.

Final Word

We’re going to give this BB Cream a tentative heads up for people who are medium complected. If you’re extremely fair or darker than “tan”, we won’t waste your time telling you that it’s great because it’s not for you. For those of you in the middle, though, there’s a good chance that you’ll love it!

Clinique Clarifying Lotion Review

Do You Want Brighter, Younger-Looking Skin?

is your skin flaky and ashy looking, even if you have an oily complexion? If so, you could just need to exfoliate. Clinique, one of the worlds’s leading scientifically-driven cosmetics giants, claims that their Clarifying Lotion will do just that. Over the next few paragraphs, we’ll take a look at it to see what’s in it and what users are saying about it.

What Does Clinique Claim?

There are actually three steps to Clinique’s Skin Care Regimen and they have sets that address each skin care need. Though the goals of each set are the same (beautiful, younger looking skin), the ingredients differ a bit. We’re going to look at exfoliating Step 2, the clarifying lotion, in the oily/combination line.

Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion is the step that actually works to slough off the dead skin to reveal new, bright skin underneath. It makes your skin look fresher and smoother from the first use, and within 2 weeks, the results will be obvious, especially if you use all three steps (clean, exfoliate and moisturize) of the system.

What’s In It?

The ingredients in this product are fairly straightforward. The actives are witch hazel, alcohol, menthol and sodium borate. The alcohol is obviously an astringent but witch hazel has been used for centuries as a skin conditioning agent and to tone and tighten skin to make it look younger.

Menthol has a dual purpose in skin care products. It’s an anesthetic and a penetration enhancer that can help vitamins and other useful ingredients to penetrate your skin.

Finally, sodium borate is a cleansing agent and buffering agent that softens your water and keeps ingredients from settling into your pores. Beside using the active ingredients, there really aren’t any bad ingredients. Water and some dyes. That’s it.

What Are Users Saying?

The majority of users love this product. There are some issues with the fact that the first ingredient is alcohol. Apparently the clarifier smells pretty heavily of alcohol, too. That’s the only complaint and there are actually very few people who made this complaint but it does bear mentioning. As a matter of fact, one of the main pros of the Clinique Clarifying Lotion is that it’s non-drying.

Other pros of this product include that it’s exfoliating, balancing, refreshing, acne treating, and cleansing.

Final Word

Usually alcohol isn’t OK in the products that we review but we’re going to step away from that rule for two reasons here. First, people are reporting that it’s effective. Since the clarifier doesn’t have any truly bad ingredients in it and it’s followed by a moisturizer, we say give it a shot!

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Spot Concealer

Do You Want to Cover Up Those Dark Spots to Look Younger?

One of the biggest complaints that we get is that it’s difficult to find a product that effectively helps with dark spots without looking cakey so we’re always watching out for new products for that. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Spot Concealer + Treatment claims to be just what you need to make your skin look younger. We’ll see about that.

What Do They Claim?

According to Maybelline, this concealer with vitamin C fights dark spots in 2 ways – it covers them instantly and fights to eliminate them gradually over time as you use the treatment. You’ll see visible results in four weeks.

It targets dark spots, scars and sunspots and comes in 5 brightening shades. That all sounds well and good, but does it work?

What’s In It?

An initial glance at the ingredients list frankly isn’t that impressive. It has all of the typical ingredients that most concealers have but I don’t see much in the way of anti-aging products or skin lighteners. A closer look reveals that there several ingredients that make it a good concealer.

There’s zinc, which inhibits sebum production, effectively helping with acne and with keeping your makeup on all day. There are also several good minerals in it that help to keep it from caking and to provide good coverage. Let’s take a look and see what people who really use it.

There is of course vitamin C in it, as well.

What Are Users Saying?

The one major complaint that people had about this product was that it was difficult to open and dispense. Here’s a hint: hold the product upright and twist the top counter-clockwise numerous times until the concealer comes out and soaks the sponge. It may take a while, but it will work.

Other than the dispensing issue, users really like the concealer and report that it lives up to both promises: it covers immediately and spots start to disappear after about four weeks. It goes on smoothly though some people did report that they liked to dab it on with their fingers instead, if only for sanitation purposes.

Final Word

We’re going to tentatively recommend Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Spot Concealer + Treatment simply because users say it works. It does have parabens and other not-so-great preservatives in it and the dispenser is apparently difficult to operate. On the other hand, though, it goes on well once you figure out how to get it out and it’s effective. In today’s world of garbage makeup, that’s saying something.
