Garnier Skin Renew BB Cream Review

Looking for a Good Drugstore BB Cream?

BB Creams have popped up everywhere and every one of them is different in composition and function.

Garnier has jumped on the bandwagon and we were hearing some good things, so we decided to check it out.

Garnier’s Skin Renew BB Cream makes some pretty decent claims so we’re going to take a look at those, then check out the ingredients and see what real users are saying about this product. First though, you should know that a BB cream isn’t the same thing as a foundation.

BB creams, aka beauty balms, have been used by women in the East for eons. It’s what they use to give them that smooth, porcelain complexion without looking cakey. Most of us Western women don’t have that type of skin so we need a cream with a bit of tint but the idea is the same.

The problem though is that since it was originally meant just to even out your skin tone sort of like a primer, most BB creams don’t come in very many shades. We’ll see how Garnier’s BB cream stacks up.

What Do They Claim?

Garnier claims that their Skin Renew BB Cream has five results. It evens your skin tone, hydrates your skin, renews your skin so that it looks younger and softer, it protects your skin from the damaging effects of the sun and it brightens your complexion.

As we were afraid of, it’s only available in 2 shades. However, if it works well for everything else, it’s always possible that you can use it as a primer underneath your foundation. Now that we know what they’re claiming, let’s take a look at the active ingredients.

What’s In It?

The first awesome ingredient is hyaluronic acid; that wonderful humectant that can hold up to 3000 times its weight in water. There’s the antioxidant vitamin C that can help your skin rebuild and it also makes your skin look brighter. Glycerin helps moisturize your skin without drying you out. Finally, octinoxate is a sunblock that helps to protect you from the sun damage that causes many of the signs of aging, including wrinkles and age spots.

There are also mineral pigments, the typical preservatives, emollients and ingredients that keep the bb cream from separating but there doesn’t seem to be anything too bad in there. Overall, a decent ingredients list for a makeup product.

What Are Users Saying?

People like this product and comment that, especially considering the cost, it does a good job. The mineral pigments help cover up minor flaws and the texture of the cream helps it to flow on smoothly without looking either streaky or cakey.

The few detractors that didn’t like it are used to using either Clinique or Estee Lauder BB Creams, both of which are much thicker than this one and they didn’t like the consistency of Garnier’s product. One other thing to note again is that there’s only 2 shades so you may not be able to match your skin tone.

Final Word

Considering it’s available in drug stores and is often available for less than $10, this is a really good BB cream for the money, assuming you can get it to match your tone. Because the SPF is only 15, you may want to use a bigger gun if you’re going to be out in the sun for any amount of time. Other than that, you may just find a new favorite product!

Estee Lauder Daywear BB Crème with SPF 35 Review

Quality BB Crème or Just Another Junk Foundation?

Are you having a hard time wading through the influx of BB Cremes that have recently flooded the market?

If so, you’re in good company. The sheer number of BB Cremes is overwhelming and the consistency from one to another is terrible.

Estee Lauder’s DayWear Antioxidant BB Crème claims to be everything that a BB crème is supposed to be, but we’ve heard that before.

We’re going to take a look at what they claim then peek at the ingredients. After that, we’ll check out what real users are actually saying about it, so stick around to see if this product may be just what you’re looking for.

What Do They Claim?

According to Estee Lauder, their BB cream performs 5 functions. It provides antioxidant protection using their proprietary all-day Super Antioxidant Complex that helps fight free radical damage that causes the signs of aging. The second function is that it provides lasting hydration without any oils.

The third benefit that this BB cream provides is brightening and illumination. It has optics in it that makes your skin look bright and even. This leads us to the fourth benefit: complexion perfection. That is, after all, the main benefit of a BB cream so it’s nice to see it listed. Finally, the product contains SPF 35 to protect you from the ravaging effects of the sun.

The BB Crème is oil free, oil controlling and non-acnegenic.

What’s In It?

There are several different antioxidants in Estee Lauder’s DayWear BB Crème including vitamin E, vitamin C, EGT and eukarion. There are also chemical and physical sunblocks including titanium dioxide, Oxybenzone, Octisalate and Octinoxate.

Also on the list of awesome ingredients is our favorite humectant, hyaluronic acid and there are also a couple of good refractors that will help your skin look brighter. The vitamin C will help with that, too.

The product also truly is oil-free though there are a few preservatives that some people may consider undesirable. Nothing terrible; just the average stuff.

What Are Users Saying

First, don’t make the mistake of thinking that this is your typical foundation because it’s not. It’s thick and it only takes a little bit to cover your entire face and it lends a nice glow. It’s extremely moisturizing and feels light. Because you only have to use a little bit, it lasts for quite a while.

Probably the biggest problem with the product is that there are only 2 shades, light and medium. This is a problem for many people and most certainly the biggest complaint. Other users that didn’t like the cream were expecting something thinner with less coverage. They simply didn’t know what to expect.

Final Word

As usual, Estee Lauder delivers again. The texture is nice, the BB cream has a decent SPF and chemical as well as physical sunblocks, which is always good because you’re not getting the harmful UVA rays that cause the signs of aging. The fact that it provides ample coverage, good moisture and a gentle glow helps, too. The product is a little pricey but it lasts for a long time so you get a lot of bang for your buck. Give it a shot!

Veet Facial Hair Removal Kit Review

No Facial Hair AND No Irritation?

Are you sick of your face looking even worse after you remove that embarrassing facial hair than it did before?

Facial irritation is almost as bad as walking around with your mustache and it’s definitely more painful, at least until now.

Throughout the following paragraphs, we’re going to take a look at what Veet claims for their product, what’s in it and what real users are saying about it. By the end of this article, you’ll know if Veet Facial Kit Hair Facial Hair Removal Cream and Gentle Finishing Cream is right for you.

What Does Veet Claim?

Veet understands that you want to have smooth, young looking skin but it seems that as we age, hair sprouts from everywhere. In order to help you feel feminine and beautiful, Veet put their skincare know-how to use to find a hair remover that didn’t cause pain or irritation.

Their Facial Hair Removal Kit acts in two steps to remove unwanted facial hair and condition and protect your skin. They do issue several warnings about this product, however. You’re not supposed to use it around your eyes, eyebrows, ears, nose, breasts or genital area or on scars or broken or irritated skin.

You’re also not supposed to use it more than once in 3 days and you should do a spot test a couple of days in advance.

What’s In It?

Both products have only a handful of ingredients in them. The finishing cream has conditioning agents such as ethylhexyl cocoate. There’s also vitamin E and several smoothing agents and silicas.

The hair removal product has mineral oil, aloe and vitamin E to help soothe your skin. The hair removing agents are calcium thioglycolate hydroxide and calcium hydroxide. It would seem that they’ve done everything that they can to create a hair removal product that is both effective and non-irritating.

What Are Users Saying?

This is one of those love it or hate it products. Though the majority of reviewers love it and say that it removed their facial hair quickly and painlessly with no irritation at all, about ¼ of users say that it didn’t work. Fortunately, it doesn’t cost that much, and you’ll at least have the skin conditioner for your next waxing if the hair removal cream doesn’t work.

Final Word

Don’t forget to follow the directions when using this product; otherwise, it either won’t work or it can burn your skin. There are numerous warnings and directions for a reason. The ingredients in the hair removal product can be caustic if used incorrectly.

That being said, the product may seem a bit pricey but if you compare the cost to waxing, you’ll realize that in just 2 uses, it will pay for itself and then some. If it doesn’t work, you’re not out that much so I say give it a shot! Just remember to do the spot test first.
