Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream Review

Smoother, Moister Skin, Really?

Since BB Creams hit the American and European scenes a couple of years ago, the push to find a multi-purpose day cream has been more like a mad rush to create junk products, but has Clinique finally gotten it right?

Though this is technically a CC cream, or color correcting cream, the concept may be better suited to non-porcelain skinned women. BB creams, or beauty balms, are traditionally made to perfect extremely fair complexions, not to blend well with peachy complexions.

Therefore, most women are disappointed in BB creams, though they are doing exactly what they are intended to do. But CC Creams are another matter – let’s take a look and see if Clinique’s Moisture Surge CC Cream is exactly what you need to even your skin tone and brighten your complexion.

What Does Clinique Claim?

The claims on this product are pretty straightforward, but impressive if they’re actually true. Two of the biggest problems with aging skin is uneven skin tone and lack of moisture. Sometimes it seems like no matter what we do, we can’t shake that ashy look, especially in the winter. Clinique claims that this product will fix that.

Specifically, Clinique’s CC cream instantly corrects uneven colors, gets rid of that gray cast and brightens sallowness. It also has SPF 30 so it protects you from sun damage. Finally, the product claims to be oil free and the hydration will help your skin look great tomorrow, too.

What’s In It?

The main ingredient besides tints and stabilizers is our favorite moisturizer, hyaluronic acid. There’s also sunscreen and a couple of refracting and smoothing agents that will make your skin look brighter and either set a good base for your foundation or cover nicely by itself. As promised, the product is free of parabens, fragrances and oils.

What Are Users Saying About It?

According to users, Clinique has done it again. I couldn’t find a single serious complaint about this product other than the moderately high price tag, but you need to remember that we’re talking about a Clinique product here.

Specifically, users like the fact that there are 6 shades, so it’s easy to match, and when you put it on, it looks natural. It’s hydrating and covers well enough to take the place of concealer and foundation both if you’d like. People with sensitive skin report that it doesn’t break them out and the packaging is nice.

Clinique’s CC Cream goes on easily and is similar in texture to a standard foundation. It doesn’t feel greasy and it absorbs well. In short, it does what it says that it does.

Perhaps most importantly, users with mature skin report that it doesn’t settle into wrinkles. How awesome is that? Finally!

Final Word

Rarely do I find a product that has nothing but positive reviews so when I do, I want to shout it from the rooftops. As a woman with mature, dry, sensitive skin, the best way that I can think of to close out this review is to say that I’m on my way to buy this CC cream. I’ll let you know how it goes!

L’Oreal Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Daily Serum Review

“Perfect” Nutrition and Moisture for Mature Skin?

Mature skin has special needs that typical creams and serums just can’t meet.

As your skin gets older, it loses moisture and elasticity and can start to look dull even if you do your best to take care of it.

What it needs is extra nutrition and a boost of peptides and moisturizers that can help it rebuild, repair and plump up so that it looks younger and is more resilient and toned.

L’Oreal Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Advanced Skin Repair Daily Serum claims to be exactly what your mature skin needs. In fact, the entire Age Perfect line is designed for people in their 50’s and beyond.

We’re going to take a closer look at this serum to see just exactly what’s in it and what users are saying about it.

What Do They Claim About The Age Perfect Serum?

L’Oreal recognizes the fact that mature skin becomes depleted of nutrients and suffers from damage caused by environmental factors such as pollution and sun exposure. Their Age Perfect serum supposedly helps reverse the signs of this damage using a ton of anti-aging ingredients and their Nutri-Repair Complex that has bio-peptides and ceramide fortifiers in it. Specifically, they claim:

  1. You’ll immediately see more hydrated, radiant skin
  2. In a month, your skin tone will look more even
  3. In that same month, your skin will regain density and elasticity so that it’s more resilient and toned.

What’s In the Age Perfect Serum?

Frankly, the ingredients list isn’t that impressive. There are several moisturizers and emollients as well as jasmine flower extract and honey that are great for hydrating your skin but I’m not seeing any huge anti-agers. The soy protein is there just like they claim along with hydroxyapatite, which may help your body accept the soy and other ingredients. However, there are a ton of perfumes in it too. Let’s take a look at what users have to say.

What Do Users Say About Age Perfect Serum?

After looking at the ingredients list, I was surprised to find out that users over 50 overwhelmingly love this serum. They say that it’s hydrating without being greasy and does a great job of getting rid of dry, flaky skin and apparently works well even if your skin is sensitive or prone to acne. There aren’t hardly any negative reviews about the actual product at all though the dropper applicator isn’t a big hit. Hmm. Go figure.

Final Word

Although the ingredients list doesn’t appear that fabulous, apparently the combination works well together. Since the serum is extremely affordable, it’s worth a shot if you have mature, dry skin that needs an extra boost of moisture. L’Oreal Age Perfect Day Cream SPF 15 Review

Still Searching for the “Perfect” Day Cream for Mature Skin?

Is your skin starved for hydration and dying for nutrition but you can’t find a day cream that works?

As you age, your skin loses elasticity. Lack of moisture doesn’t help and the damage that the sun has inflicted over the years makes matters even worse.

Now you’re over 50 and have spotty, saggy skin that looks dull and old. So far, nothing’s worked and you’ve just wasted your money, but you’re not willing to give up just yet.

If that sounds like you, then L’Oreal claims to have just the product line for you. Their Age Perfect line is designed specifically to meet the unique needs of skin over 50.

Today we’re going to take a look at L’Oreal Age Perfect Day Cream SPF 15 to see if it may be a product worthy of the name “Age Perfect”.

What Do They Claim About L’Oreal Age Perfect Day Cream?

L’Oreal claims that this cream is ideal for women in their 50’s. Supposedly, their day cream fights the signs of aging in mature skin in 5 different ways.

It brightens your skin and smoothes your complexion. It faces age spots and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The cream deeply moisturizes and improves your elasticity using BHA’s and soy seed proteins while the UVA and UVB sunscreens in it protect you from further damage. Your skin will feel “pampered and invigorated”.

Sounds great. Now let’s see what’s in it that could make all of this happen.

What’s In L’Oreal’s Age Perfect Day Cream?

As is typical in this line, many of the first ingredients are moisturizers and smoothing agents such as glycerin, mineral oil and Shea butter. There are also a few herbal oils including as rosa canina and jasmine extract that are known for their vitamins and healing properties. The cream also has soluble collagen which may or may not be absorbed by your skin. The Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) capryloyl salicylic acid is in there and so is the soy protein. There are also a ton of parabens in here, just FYI.

Oddly enough, what I DON’T see on the list are sunscreens. Hmm. The label clearly specifies SPF 15 though, so I have to wonder if this is a clerical omission rather than a blatant line of hype.

What Are Users Saying About L’Oreal Age Perfect Day Cream?

We’ll touch on the downsides first. The main complaints from people who didn’t like this day cream were that it was too greasy, the scent was too strong or they saw no results. To be fair, though, the vast majority of the reviews on this product are glowing.

Fans of this cream report that it is extremely moisturizing and helps to make skin look plump and hydrated. They also report a reduction in fine lines, wrinkles and age spots. It blends easily and absorbs well and makes your skin feel soft. Over all, it’s a hit.

Final Word

This day cream seems to work best on mature, dry skin. If you’re sensitive to smell, there’s an outside chance that this may bother you but the great thing is that L’Oreal backs their products so if you don’t like it, you can always return it. If you’re in your 50’s and looking for a great moisturizer, then this may just be the “Perfect” day cream for you.

L’Oreal Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Golden Balm Review

Anti-Aging Gold or Just a Balm Bomb?

Do you have alligator skin that you just can’t seem to get hydrated?

If that sounds like you then L’Oreal claims to have just the product that you need, and it’s made for your neck and chest, too!

It’s tough to find a good longevity product that actually does what it claims but L’Oreal products tend to be a little better at coming through than some others are.

Today we’re going to take a look at their Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Golden Balm Face, Neck and Chest. The Age Perfect line is created specifically for mature skin over 50 and makes some pretty big promises. We’re going to take a look at what’s in this cream and see what users have to say about it.

What Does L’Oreal Claim About Age Perfect Golden Balm?

This cream is formulated with essential oils and a calcium complex to nourish, firm and “redensify” mature skin, especially the less-resilient skin on your neck and chest. It “recushions” in from within and elasticity is improved so that your skin is more resilient and toned.I guess if you’re going to make up words, those are pretty good ones to make up in the age management industry.

Next, L’Oreal claims that it’s extremely hydrating and penetrates well below your skin’s surface to lock in moisture for a full day. Your skin will feel pampered and the “butter-soft” balm supposedly melts when it comes into contact with your skin so that it feels rich and luxurious gliding on.

Wow. Either that’s a ton of expert marketing (read BS), or I really need to rush out and buy this! Let’s peel back the layers and see what’s really going on behind the marketing hype.

What’s In Age Perfect Golden Balm?

The first thing that jumps out at me when I scan the ingredients list is that it’s definitely packed with herbal extracts and oils. There’s at least 10 in there. Camelina Sativa oil and rosa canina oil are both known for their moisturizing abilities and high vitamin content, especially our anti-aging superhero vitamins A and E. The rosa canina also has a high vitamin C content. Some of the others, such as anthemis nobilis flower oil are soothing agents and anti-inflammatories.

Since L’oreal places these pretty high on the list, my guess is that you’re going to reap at least some benefit from them. The addition of hydroxyapatite may help with getting all of the good stuff deep down into your skin so that your body can use it and it makes your skin soft, too.

The calcium pantetheine sulfonate may also act as a skin lightener so that’s a possible added bonus that wasn’t mentioned specifically.

Another thing that’s pretty apparent is that the cream is going to feel smooth and silky. The first several ingredients are water, mineral oil, dimethicone, Shea butter, carnauba wax and beeswax. That combination almost guarantees a luxurious texture. There are several different perfuming agents in it though, so let’s see what users are saying.

What Are Users Saying About Age Perfect Golden Balm?

As suspected the biggest legitimate complaint about this product is the smell. Some describe it as matronly and others just say that it’s too much. A few people did complain of headaches so if you’re sensitive to scents, you may want to try a sample first.

There were several complaints that the balm was too thick and felt waxy. While the waxy part may be legitimate, we need to remember that this is a BALM, not a cream. By definition, it’s going to be thicker so start with just a little when you use it.

Those complaints aside, women 50+ love this balm, especially those with dry or extra dry skin. A huge percentage of users say that it delivers as promised and that skin looks plumper and moister. It glides on well, absorbs nicely and makes your skin feel soft. Wrinkles appear less noticeable and skin looks younger. According to them, this balm is the bomb!

Final Word

If you have mature skin that could benefit from some serious hydration, give this balm a try. It’s rich in beneficial herbals and moisturizers and there are no parabens in it. If you’re sensitive to scents though, use a sample first if you can.

L’Oreal Age Perfect BB Cream Instant Radiance

Finally An Effective Anti-Aging BB Cream?

L’Oreal is well known for their anti-aging product lines as well as for their cosmetics and now they’ve dipped a toe into the anti-aging BB cream pool.

BB creams, or beauty balm, has been a staple for Asian women for decades but the product has only recently made its way to the US.

Typically designed to cover flaws, moisturize and act as a sort of primer or light foundation, BB creams aren’t usually associated with anti-aging benefits until now.

L’Oreal’s Age Perfect Line is designed specifically to meet the skin care needs of people over 50 and their new Age Perfect BB Cream Instant Radiance is now a part of that line. Today, we’re going to take a look at what the claims are for the product, what’s in it, and what real users are saying about it.

What Does L’Oreal Claim About Age Perfect BB Cream?

If you listen to the hype, you’re going to be running out and buying every tube that the store has to offer! They claim that this cream does 5 things:

  1. Enhances your skin’s radiance
  2. Nourishes your skin to help restore resiliency
  3. Evens your skin tone and diminishes age spots
  4. Redensifies your skin to help your skin look toned
  5. Helps protect your skin from sun damage with an SPF 20

All in all, that’s not necessarily a ridiculous list even though it’s unusual for a BB cream. Let’s take a look at what’s in it before we decide whether or not the claims are realistic.

What’s In Age Perfect BB Cream?

The first 3 ingredients, listed as active ingredients, in the BB cream are sunscreens, so the SPF claim is backed up. There are also several moisturizers including shea butter, which is a standard ingredient in beauty balms due to its moisturizing and healing properties.

The potential skin lighter and melatonin inhibitor calcium pantetheine sulfonate is also in there so the bb cream may very well have some ability to get rid of your age spots. There’s boron nitride in it, which is commonly used to help fill fine lines, make your skin soft and lustrous and help your makeup glide on easily.

Finally, the bb cream does contain soy proteins and hydroxyapatite, which is used to help your body accept foreign objects (ie soy protein perhaps) instead of rejecting them and forming a reaction against them. Basically, it’s a delivery system to get things into your body. One big concern is that there are several perfuming agents in this cream and some of them are pretty strong. That may be an issue.

The bb cream has the ingredients to potentially support its claims but let’s see what real users are saying about it.

What Are Users Saying About L’Oreal Age Perfect BB Cream Instant Radiance?

Reviews are mixed on this BB cream. Because the cream is supposed to go on clear and change colors to match your skin tone, it’s impossible to tell if it’s going to match you until you put it on and wear it for a few minutes. Many people, especially those with fair skin, report that it has an orange tint that looks unnatural but medium-skinned people like it and say that it looks translucent and light.

As we expected, there are several complaints about the scent. It’s fairly heavy and doesn’t fade so if you don’t like the smell or are sensitive to scents, then this may bother you. Also, it may not go well with your makeup either in color or in texture.

People who like it say that it goes on well and makes your skin feel soft and look glowy. It has a nice consistency and the fact that it has the SPF 20 is a big plus. Also, those who like it say that it really does help your skin to look younger and smoother.

Final Word

The reviews are really polarized for this product. If you have medium to dark skin and you tend to be dry, then you’ll most likely love it. If you have skin that tends to have more of an orange tint rather than a pink one, you too will probably enjoy it. If, however, you’re fair, oily, or sensitive to scents, I’d probably steer clear.

The only real upside is that those who like this REALLY like it and say that they will continue to use it as long as it’s available. That alone may make it worth a try, especially considering it’s relatively inexpensive.

Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Eye Cream Lash Serum Duo Review

Younger Looking Eyes AND Thicker Lashes? Prove It!

One of the first signs of aging is thinning lashes and crepey skin around your eyes but can you do anything about it?

According to Olay, the answer is yes, you most certainly can.

Not only can you address both issues, but they offer you a product, their Regenerist Micro Sculpting Eye Cream & Lash Serum Duo, that addresses both of your eye concerns at the same time!

I’m a bit skeptical about lash thickeners since we had that one product that promised thicker lashes as long as you were willing to take the risk of your eyes changing to brown. That can’t be a good thing, so let’s take a close look at Olay’s product to see if it’s safe and effective.

What Does Olay Claim About Regenerist Micro Sculpting Eye Cream and Lash Serum Duo?

According to Olay, this dual-functioning product does four things to make your eyes look younger:

  1. It makes your eyelashes look thicker instantly.
  2. It softens the look of fine lines.
  3. It gives you smoother, firmer eyelids.
  4. It makes your eyes look brighter and smoother in only a week.

What I’m taking away from that is that it only makes your eyelashes LOOK thicker, which is different than actually making them grow thicker, so I feel a little better because it’s not actually using growth stimulators or anything.

This isn’t a single product that performs 2 functions, either. It’s actually an eye serum that you apply with your fingers and a lash serum that you apply with a lash brush. It’s just packaged together.

What’s In Regenerist Micro Sculpting Eye Cream & Lash Serum Duo?

Right out of the gate, there’s the niacinamide and the peptides that we expected in the eye serum. The only active ingredient listed in the lash serum is glycerin. That’s OK though for what it’s promising to do. The glycerin could very well sit on your lash and hold more mascara, making your lashes look thicker.

The eye serum contains dill extract, which is known to play a part in elastin synthesis. There’s also vitamin E and panthenol, both good moisturizers and healing agents. Allentoin and green tea extract can help reduce inflammation and titanium dioxide can lend a nice tint that helps your eyes look brighter.

There are, of course, Olay’s standard parabens et al as well.

The ingredients list is actually pretty decent for this product so let’s take a look at what users have to say about it.

What Are Users Saying About Regenerist Micro Sculpting Eye Cream & Lash Duo?

It seems that the people who love this product have dry skin around their eyes. People who report dry skin say that the eye serum provides much-needed moisture and thus makes their eye area look younger. It’s also a fair hit for people with combination skin and just about everybody reported a reduction in fine lines.

The eye serum has a light floral scent that users report is almost non-existent so you probably won’t have any problems even if you tend to be sensitive to scents. Finally, it does seem to help with fine lines and crow’s feet, probably because it’s so moisturizing.

The lash serum applicator isn’t a big hit. A couple of people commented that it’s hard and doesn’t distribute the gel evenly. Also, both serums reportedly works best when – gasp – you follow directions and wait a few minutes before applying makeup!

Final Word

If you have dry skin, you’re probably going to love this product. Many of the reviews were a bit frustrating to me because in this instance, people were expecting miracles. I think that the results of this product are there but they’re going to be subtle. As long as you’re realistic with your expectations, you’ll probably like this duo.

Click here to try the eye and lash duo for less than you’ll pay at the drugstore.

If you’ve tried this duo, please tell us about your experience with it in the comments section below. Don’t forget to tell us why you bought the product.

Olay Regenerist Wrinkle Revolution Complex Review

A True Skin Smoothing Revolution?

If you’re like 99% of women over 35, you’re tired of putting foundation on just to watch it settle unattractively into your pores and fine lines.

Well good news, at least according to Olay.

Their Regenerist Wrinkle Revolution Complex is a primer that supposedly creates a smooth base for your foundation, but I’ve heard this before.

What makes this primer any different than all of the other ones currently taking up space on my vanity?

I’m dying to find out if this product is worth the time and money so let’s look at what they claim, then see if the ingredients and real-life user reviews back them up.

What Does Olay Claim About Regenerist Wrinkle Revolution Complex?

According to Olay, this primer perfects your skin by simultaneously moisturizing and instantly smoothing out the texture so that your makeup goes on easily. They also claim that it immediately reduces the appearance of fine lines, pores and wrinkles. Over time, the anti-aging formula with Bio-Peptide + B3 complex diminishes the appearance of your deeper lines. Hmm. All in one primer? Let’s take a look.

What’s In Regenerist Wrinkle Revolution Complex?

First, let’s look at the ingredients that will make it smooth your skin so that your foundation doesn’t settle into your fine lines. There’s aluminum starch octenylsuccinate and dimethicone that act as a fillers and smoothers. Yeast extract enhances skin absorption and moisture retention so that the herbal extracts and moisturizers found in the primer can permeate your skin to hydrate it. So far, so good.

The yeast would also help the peptides, niacinimide, panthenol and vitamin E permeate too, so that they may help heal your skin. It’s possible that the product may actually help you reduce deeper lines. The ingredients list looks good as long as you don’t mind the parabens so let’s take a look at what real users are saying about the complex.

What Are Users Saying About Regenerist Wrinkle Revolution Complex?

A recurring comment is that the product is scented but even those who are sensitive to scents weren’t bothered by it. It goes on smoothly and feels extremely moisturizing, though Olay recommends waiting a few minutes after applying it to put on your makeup so that it can absorb. Otherwise, your makeup may not apply well.

Even though some people say that it’s a bit greasy as soon as you put it on, everyone agrees that it absorbs well and makes your skin feel soft without feeling heavy or looking shiny. People also report a fading of redness and dark spots, so that’s a bonus.

What I find odd, though, is that nobody comments on how makeup looks over top of the product. It is, after all, advertised as a “cashmere-soft, skin-perfecting primer”. Another thing that you need to be aware of is that there are about a million complaints about the bottle not dispensing. Olay says that they’ve fixed this, but now you know.

Final Word

If you’re looking for a great moisturizer that smoothes your skin and helps get rid of fine lines, dark spots and wrinkles, then you’ll probably like this product. It does contain excellent ingredients that recommend it as a moisturizer, wrinkle fighter and primer. Olay backs up all of their products with a satisfaction guarantee, so you really don’t have anything to lose!

I’ve found some good deals on Olay Regenerist Wrinkle Revolution Complex here, so feel free to compare prices!

Olay Age Defying Anti-Wrinkle Targeted Wrinkle Treatment Review

Does it Target Wrinkles or Just Your Purse?

In today’s world of cosmetic magic, there seems to be a spot treatment for everything from age spots to flaky skin but if you want to treat wrinkles, you have to do it via a whole-face moisturizer, or a serum that requires moisture application afterward.

So how would you like a product that is made specifically to spot-treat deep wrinkles?

Olay claims to have just such a product. Their Age Defying Anti-Wrinkle Targeted Wrinkle Treatment is made specifically to use on just your wrinkles, but is it too good to be true?

As usual, we’re going to take a few minutes to find out. We’ll examine the ingredients and listen to what actual users are saying about it so that you can decide for yourself whether or not this product is worth your time and money.

What does Olay Claim About Age Defying Anti-Wrinkle Targeted Wrinkle Treatment?

According to Olay, this product is designed specifically to target your most pronounced wrinkles. The “precision applicator” is used to distribute the supposedly moisturizing, anti-wrinkle ingredients right to the spots where it’s needed. It plumps with moisture and helps make your skin look firmer. OK. Let’s see what’s in it.

What’s In Olay Age Defying Anti-Wrinkle Targeted Wrinkle Treatment?

I don’t necessarily love all of their products but I do love the fact that Olay is open about what they use in their products. Many companies aren’t, so at least it’s a nice change of pace. Thanks Olay. Now, let’s get down to business.

The product uses the moisturizer and humectant glycerin as well as niacinamide, aka B3, that promotes good circulation and helps your skin retain moisture. There’s also vitamin E to help your skin heal and rejuvenate. All the other ingredients are just emulsifiers, emollients, minor moisturizers, perfumes or preservatives.

This isn’t really an impressive list for a product aimed at deep wrinkles but let’s see what other users have to say about it.

What Are Users Saying About Olay Age Defying Anti-Wrinkle Targeted Wrinkle Treatment?

As anticipated, reviews are mixed on this product. People with deep wrinkles didn’t see any improvement while people with just fine lines did. There were some reports of breakouts but not many, and even most of the people who didn’t like the product as a wrinkle treatment said that it makes your skin feel nice.

Final Word

If you want to seriously fight deep wrinkles, you need a product with retinol or other big-hitting anti-aging ingredient. If you just want a nice moisturizer, or maybe if you have dry spots, then you may love this product. It’s reasonably priced so you won’t be out much even if you don’t like it, plus Olay stands behind their products.

Olay Age Defying 2 in 1 Anti-Wrinkle Day Cream + Serum Review

A True Wrinkle Fighting Cream and Serum All in 1?

Olay has added yet another advanced line to their army of wrinkle-fighting products but is this one any better than the others?

We’re going to take the time right now to find out.

As usual, we’re going to take a look at what Olay Age Defying 2-in-1 Anti-Wrinkle Day Cream + Serum claims to do.

We’ll also check out the actual ingredients and user reviews to see if the claims hold water or if you should take a pass.

It would be nice if this product lives up to its claims!

Let’s take a look and see what’s up with this double duty day cream.

What Does Olay Claim About the 2-in-1 Anti-Wrinkle Day Cream + Serum?

According to Olay, this product combines and anti-wrinkle cream with a firming serum in order to give you great results for you beauty dollars. The moisturizers provide a plumper complexion to reduce the appearance of wrinkles while the serum part smooths your skin to reduce fine lines and wrinkles so that you look younger.

Easy enough. Let’s take a look at the ingredients.

What’s In Olay 2-in-1 Anti-Wrinkle Day Cream + Serum?

Active ingredients include the moisturizer glycerin, plus niacinaminde, aka vitamin B3 which is known to help your skin retain moisture, improve elasticity and promote good circulation. Vitamins E and B5 are excellent antioxidants and skin healing/regenerating agents. Green tea has been used for centuries as an antioxidant and humectant and BHT is known for its antioxidant properties as well.

Other ingredients include fragrances, emollients, preservatives and binding agents, including laureth 7 and 4, bonzophenone-4 and aluminum starch actenylsuccinate.

What Are Users Saying About Olay 2-in-1 Anti-Wrinkle Day Cream+Serum?

Two or three users out of 100 or so reported that it either broke them out or they didn’t see any noticeable results. However, most people were extremely pleased with the moisturizing power of this product. They also reported fewer fine lines and wrinkles after using it for a bit and it makes your skin feel really soft.

One potential downside is that it’s apparently pretty scented. Some people love the smell and some people were irritated by it so that’s something to consider if fragrances bother you. One serious downside to this day cream, at least to me, is that there’s no sunscreen in it. That’s almost a requirement for me in a day cream.

Final Word

This seems like it would be a great all-around moisturizer and it has some good ingredients, especially for a drug store brand. I’d like to see sunscreen and some hyaluronic acid in it but even without those, it’s pretty good. If you have slightly dry to oily skin with only minor signs of aging, you’ll probably love this product.

On the other hand, if you have super dry skin, you’ll probably need more moisture than this product offers. If you have deep lines, you’d probably be better off with a product with some heavier-hitting anti-aging ingredients such as retinol.

Lancome Genifique Yeux Eye Light Pearl Review

Pearly Younger Looking Eyes, or Just a Soaked Wallet?

Are you looking for a serum to brighten up your dark, tired-looking under eye area?

If eye wrinkles, crow’s feet and dark under eye circles are your problem then Lanacome Genifique Yeux Light Pearl Eye-Illuminating Youth Activating Concentrate claims to be the answer to your beauty prayers.

That’s what they all say but Lancome typically has some decent products.

Today we’re going to take a look at what their claims are for this product, what’s in it, and what users have to say about it so that you can make an informed decision.

What Does Lancome Claim About Genifique Yeux Light Pearl?

Quite simply, they claim that this product will make your eyes look brighter and improve your “eye contour” in a month or less. Now, what the heck does that mean? Apparently you use it above your eye underneath your brow bone and on your undereye area, too. It has an applicator that they call the 360° massaging Light-Pearl applicator that supposedly shapes to your contours and gently massages as you roll it over your skin.

Apparently the combination of the roller and the serum shrinks bags, makes your eyes more luminous and smoothes your skin. Huh. Let’s take a look at what’s in it.

What’s In Lancome Genifique Yeux Light Pearl?

This product has some interesting ingredients but there is one that you should be aware of if you have an allergy to tree nuts. Escin, which is extracted from the horse chestnut tree, is near the top of the list. If you don’t have an allergy though, this can be an excellent ingredient because it’s been used effectively for centuries to treat inflammation and spider veins. It’s a vasoconstrictor, antioxidant, astringent and anti-inflammatory so it offers a quadruple whammy to your eye agues.

Chlorphenesin is an ingredient that used orally as a muscle relaxant because it blocks nerve impulses. In cosmetics it’s typically used as a preservative because it has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. The problem here is that it’s known to cause skin irritation, especially if you have sensitive or dry skin.

The FDA actually warned nursing mothers against using a nipple cream that contained this because chlorphenesin “can depress the central nervous system and cause respiratory depression in infants”. So there ya go. The main concern here is ingestion, so if you’re going to use this, keep it where small kids can’t get to it. Aside from the potential for irritation, the FDA doesn’t say anything else about this being hazardous as a topical agent.

Now that we’ve gotten those two out of the way, there really are some awesome ingredients in this product. There’s vitamin E, which we know promotes healing and cell regeneration as well as antioxidant superpowers.

Adenosine is a great anti-inflammatory and also plays an important role in cell signaling. Caffeine works wonders as a topical anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictor. It’s great for minimizing dark under eye circles and its ability to draw out excess fluids helps get rid bags and puffiness.

Chlorella vulgaris is an algae extract packed with anti-carcinogenic and anti-aging carotenoids and collagen-supporting amino acids. Finally, the eye serum contains salicyloyl phytosphingosine, a combination of the exfoliating agent salicylic acid and the soothing agent, phytosphingosine. In short, this product has the ingredients to do what it claims.

What Are Users Saying About Lancome Genifique Yeux Light Pearl?

As anticipated, there are some complaints about skin irritation but not many and they seem to be localized to people with super-sensitive skin. Other than that, users either love this eye serum and report serious results or they hate it and report none. It’s about a 50-50 mix. Those who love it report reduction or elimination of dark circles and undereye bags and a more luminous, younger appearance in general.

The product doesn’t offer much in the way of moisturizing so people who use it successfully also report that they use it to get rid of their bags and dark circles and then apply a moisturizer over it. Since many of the people who report no results or otherwise dislike it often commented that it left their skin dry, this could be the problem. Lancome doesn’t claim that it moisturizes though, and it IS a serum, not a moisturizer.

One thing that can go in the negative column though is that the applicator makes you use too much product if you’re not careful and it will leave behind a residue. Other users report that if you just use it sparingly, you may be able to avoid this issue, or skip the applicator and use your finger if it’s that big of a problem. Since the applicator is supposed to enhance the results though, you should probably use it.

Final Word

This product has some really great ingredients and has the potential to live up to its claims. If you’re allergic to tree nuts or have extremely sensitive skin, it’s probably not for you but if you don’t fall into those categories and you just want to brighten your eye area and get rid of bags and undereye circles, you may just fall in love.

My recommendation: try a sample first. That way, you’ll know. Here’s a link to affordable samples and full-size bottles of Lancome Genifique Yeux Light Pearl Eye if you’d like to try it for significantly less than you’d pay in a department store.
