There are new studies being conducted that suggest that low-level laser therapy may be effective in helping to treat wounds. There isn’t a ton of research yet but what has been done is promising.

The FDA approved the use of low-level laser light therapy to stop hair loss and stimulate new growth within the follicle. People who are the best candidates for this type of light therapy are those who have just started losing their hair because the follicles are most likely still functional.

There’s also the much more heavy-hitting and serious laser resurfacing therapy that can only be done by a doctor. This procedure actually uses two types of lasters, depending upon which procedure you’re getting.

The first procedure uses a wounding (or ablative) laser to actually remove layers of your skin. The second procedure is extremely similar to the red light therapy in that it uses a nonwounding (or nonablative) laser to stimulate collagen growth and tighten up the underlying layers of your skin. Both procedures have risks.

My only suggestion here is that you should always consult a doctor before you start any home treatments on yourself. That way, you know the risks and you know how to perform the treatment correctly without causing any damage or injuring yourself.
