L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Reviews

Youth Code is a new line of skin products from L’Oreal Paris, promising to rejuvenate the skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and leave facial features appearing more rested.

The line, which includes Serum Intense, Day Lotion SPF30, Eye Cream Daily Treatment, and Day/Night Cream, is formulated based on L’Oreal’s “GenActiv Technology” (labeled “Pro-Gen Technology” in L’Oreal’s U.K. market), which the company claims increases the skin’s own regenerative power and is based on research into the way the skin’s genes are activated.

In conjunction with independent researchers, L’Oreal studied how skin reacts after being stressed and the process by which it regenerates. The Youth Code products act to stimulate this regenerative process faster than it would naturally occur.

Reviews of the Youth Code line have been mixed. L’Oreal’s consumer testing showed that approximately 3/4 of the reviewers positively reported that their skin felt rejuvenated, appearance of wrinkles was reduced, and they noticed a more rested appearance.

External, independent reviews are about half positive and half negative for this product line. Those who enjoyed positive results generally reported that all the products were lightweight, went on smoothly and left the face feeling soft. A majority found that their wrinkles did appear less prominent, and a smaller percentage reported receiving compliments from others on their more youthful appearance. Most reported that there was no heavy or noticeable smell, and that any negligible scent was pleasant. Very few complained of a greasy texture or exacerbation of acne.

Of the negative reviews, the primary complaint was that none of the products in this line improved wrinkle appearance, and a small percentage reported that it made their wrinkles more prominent. The Eye Cream in particular received the most unfavorable reviews, with complaints of irritation, darker circles and increased puffiness. A majority reported that all the products in the line dried out their skin and made it appear duller, rather than glowing or luminous. Several reviewers went on to state that applying foundation makeup over the products did nothing to improve or cover this dull property.

Neutral comments, from both the positive and negative reviewers, were that the Serum Intense is of a texture more like a cream than a serum, which some users found beneficial but others found disappointing; and the fact that all the Youth Code products give the skin a matte texture.

In summary, L’Oreal Paris’ Youth Code line of products is intended to make facial skin feel renewed, diminish the appearance of wrinkles, and promote a more rested appearance. Whether or not these products live up to their claims is questionable, based on the variance of reviews. While it may be effective for many individuals, clearly it’s not recommended for everyone.

I LOVE this Youth Code line!!
I use the under eye cream, serum and the spf 30 daily lotion every morning.

I have a scar from my childhood that rested in my eye crease and after 3-4 weeks of using the products everyday my scar is lifted and pulled back like I had an eye lift!

My dark circles under my eyes have lightened up so much that I don’t have to wear foundation or cover up any more.

I suggestedthe creams to my mother and her face appears to be lifted and smoother.

I’ve been telling everyone and would recomend it to all!!

Well I have been using Oil of Olay and I have read fantastic reviews about that product. It only made my skin and wrinkles look worse . I have used it for years and decided I was wasting my money and giving up. So I am trying Youth Code by Loreal. I am not expecting miracles and I know that everyone has different skin types with different reactions to products. Other products by Loreal I have just loved!

I tried L’Oreal’s Youth Code (the dark spot corrector/illuminator) and my face has now broke out in some sort of rash… i didn’t think i am allergic to anything in it but I have to go to the doctor now. Has anyone else had this problem?

I had the same reaction and I am not usually allergic to anything. How long did the rash last? Did you have to go to the doctor?

I purchased the Youth Code Dark Spot Correcting products and have been very dissatisfied. After 2 months the dark spots are NOT fading, even though some are very light. The worst part is that the Day Cream does not absorb well. It turns to pill-like balls when I apply the TrueMatch foundation. I have used several L’Oreal skin care lines & makeup, but I am very unhappy with this line and it will probably go in the trash barely used. I looked several places for the Night Cream and couldn’t find it. I think I know now why they never put it on the market. I guess it’s a blessing or I would have wasted even more money.

I can’t say I have. Actually I have nothing but good things to say about this product. It’s diminished my blackheads, made my skin glow, and made those tired mommy eyes of mine dark circle free after only 3 days :) then again I’m only in my mid 20s and don’t have bad skin other than the dark spots under my eyes. Maybe it depends on your skin type? I’m not sensitive to anything so that may have something to
        Do with it.

I use the serum( which I especially love, very light and absorbs easily), and the day SPF 30 and the eye cream. I find that the day cream does take a couple minutes to absorb, but I also use true match liquid foundation and I find as long as I let the moisturizer absorb, the foundation goes on smoothly. The eye cream stings a tiny bit when I first apply it, but as it absorbs the sting goes away. I find that with most eye products though. My skin does look/feel refreshed, but it took about two weeks, twice a day application to see results. I am hoping to see further improvement on my deeper wrinkles with further use. The one complaint is that my skin is sensitive and I found that the first couple days I used the products I had a small reaction of red bumps within a half hour of using them. It disappeared quickly over the next hour and after a few more days of use I had no reaction at all. Perhaps my skin just needed to adjust.
