Cosmetic Tourism in Colombia
While cosmetic tourism is growing all over the world, Colombia in particularly has gotten a boost from an interesting new procedure called the Colombian Hi-Def Butt Lift.
We originally reported on this procedure after it was featured on popular TV show The Doctors, but we never would have guessed that its demand would grow to be so high.
Popularity of Colombian Hi-Def Butt Lift
Apparently, patients are finding it difficult to locate affordable plastic surgeons offering the new procedure here locally. Quotes for the procedure can range from $15,000 to $30,000 across the United States. However, while the Hi-Def Butt Lift is a relatively new procedure outside of Brazil, it has been performed in Colombia for many years. In Colombia, the average cost of a Hi-Def Butt Lift is just $5,000 which is a savings of over 60%.
Long wait times for certain procedures, the ease and affordability of international travel, and improvements in both technology and standards of care in many countries have led to the increasing popularity of cosmetic tourism.
Aside from the obvious cost benefits of cosmetic tourism, many patients have been enticed by the idea of turning a procedure into a vacation. Rather than recovering at home or in a hospital room, patients in Colombia are recuperating in 4 and 5 star resorts. It definitely makes sense. Why come home with embarrassing bandages when you could come home with a tan? The primary concern of most Americans is the quality of hospitals and surgeons in Colombia. However, many patients have been shocked to discover that the facilities in Colombia were equal if not better to those in America.
