Celebrating Chanukah with our Jewish community

On Thursday December 18, we came together with our Jewish community for a special Chanukah celebration at Emirates Stadium.

Held in collaboration with Jewish Gooners, the event brought together our supporters, Arsenal colleagues and members of the wider Jewish community to celebrate the Jewish Festival of Lights, which commemorates dedication, resilience and the power of light over darkness.

They were joined by our Chief Executive, Richard Garlick, who welcomed our community and thanked Jewish Gooners for our work together over the past year before Rabbi Nicky Liss, from Highgate Synagogue, led the Menorah lighting, songs and reflection.

Reflecting on the event and significance of Chanukah within the Jewish community, Rabbi Liss said:“We are so grateful to the Arsenal for hosting our Chanukah celebration, particularly given the horrific attack in Sydney earlier this week. We have a sacred tradition of finding faith despite circumstance, and of bringing light even when surrounded by darkness and this was a wonderful reminder of the joy that can be created when communities work together.”

This celebration builds on the ongoing relationship between Arsenal and Jewish Gooners since the group was established in 2023. We continue to work together to support inclusion for all our supporters, as well as tackling antisemitism and abuse in all its forms.
